My niggles are the same as most training is repetitive and could be more diversity in who can train you as well as having a manager, etc. I started playing this game about a week ago and already I have a rivalry between my boxer WILSON "CLUBBER" CHAOS and some other loser pretender to the throne, but as for it happening at weigh-ins is nonsense, however if you have a rivalary the rival does seem to fight dirty with you as he kept head butting me but in the end "THEY ALWAYS END UP ON THE CANVAS". I think people have mentioned the niggle of it being repetative but there is not much else you can do with a boxing match except keep knocking down your opponents :o) However I do agree the training is quite repetitive and not allowing sparring to improve your boxer in anyway I think was a mistake as it makes you less inclined to do it apart from your first few fights in your first career. I have to agree with everyone else, the graphics and realism of the boxers is quite stupendous but even more so when you play a "Classic ESPN" match. I recently purchased this game not on the back of the previous FN games or reviews of this but because I played a boxing game on the old mega drive and really enjoyed it so fancied another boxing game and this was the latest.

This may be because I'm not an FPS (or beat-em-up fan), and for that fact alone, it speaks volumes about the quality of this product, it really is the full package: playable, customisable and aesthetically compelling, other iterations will benefit from an exapnded interaction with your boxer, but, if you own a 360, you really should try it, even if it's just a rent, it's something different from the racers and FPS staple that we are served ad nauseum. The much maligned in-game advertising is not annoying in the slightest, you can't help but grin when the Burger King mascot leads your boxer out with a dumb grin plastered over his maw.įor me this is the best game I've played on 360. Although I love this game, it's difficult to see how people can enjoy putting themselves through so much pain in the name of sport. The graphics are excellent and the spot FX such as sweat and blood are like sandpaper to the eye. The ESPN Classic mode is a wonderful way to see the styles of previous boxers and they provided with evocative background by Joe Tessitore. The career mode is involving, and whilst it has been rightly criticised elsewhere for lacking involvment, you really feel an affinity with your boxer through the excellent character creation, which means that you improve your technique to stop him from running into trouble with some of the big hitters. I was caught between Ghost Recon and this, and whilst I'm sure GR is excellent, there is a freshness with both the tactical and strategic aspects of this game.
